About Me I have been in and around dirt track racing my entire life. My daddy, Glenn England, drove a dirt track car. I can remember always being in his shop while he was working on the race car. After he retired from driving, he was offered a position as flagman at a local track. Daddy dropped the very first flag ever thrown at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, and remained the flagman there for 18 years. I dated and married, Curtis Putnam., a second generation dirt track driver. I always enjoyed taking pictures of Curtis and his racing. Mostly from the stands though, because females just didn't go into the pits, pffft! I enjoyed taking pictures so much that I invested in a Nikon 35mm film camera. I also started going to the pits and taking lots of shots of all the cars especially at the big races. It wasn't long before some of the other drivers asked me to photograph their cars. I did that until my first son was born. I couldn't take care of a baby and shoot pic's at the same time so my photography got put aside. During my "down" time, every thing went digital so I had to start learning all over again. I had a couple of point n shoot digitals over the years and took shots of my boys. I also started a fish pond business which I owned and operated until chronic physical and health issues forced me to close a couple of years ago. I built my own website from scratch for that business, learning as I went. I took pic's of all of the aquatic plants that I grew so that I would have them for my website. I really didn't pick photography back up seriously until our oldest son, Josh, went from go kart racing to full size car racing. Of course, I had to build him his own website and I needed better pic's for it. LOL So, I upgraded from my point n shoot to a Nikon Digital SLR and started learning to use it. Josh traveled with the Southern Regional Racing Series in 2009, and early in the season one of the SRRS officials asked me how my action shots were. I just grinned at her. What she didn't know was that this wasn't my first time at the track. LOL So I started shooting the SRRS races and their winner shots. I sell my pic's at the race tracks to try and offset my expenses. I have also built this website so that folks will have more access to see my pic's. Since finding out that I built Josh's website plus a couple more, I have had drivers asking me about building them a website. I am branching out to doing that also. I also do freelance photography and writing for Dirt on Dirt, Late Model Racer, and several more news sites. My photo's have been published in Late Model Illustrated and Dirt Late Model magazines. |
